The office environment’s impact on productivity is no myth. Many international studies have conclusively proved that productivity improvements of up to 40% can be achieved by changing the work environment.
The office environment have outgrown the idea of the paper processing machine and have become more than a mere arrangement of desks and chairs. Challenged by the rapid pace of technological development, Ergospace Africa have devoted the major portion of its efforts to the work environment, and set out to create optimal conditions for people to work in.
The key to creating an optimal environment is the understanding that people work in offices and that these people have basic human needs, which often directly conflict with the changing demands of technology. Realising this, Ergospace Africa set out to create office environments that maximise the potential of working people whilst coping smoothly with change.
The blueprint for manpower actualisation begins with assessing the communicative requirements of the worker. Ergospace Africa will undertake a comprehensive survey to assess work and paper-flow patterns as well as inter-departmental communications. The findings are analysed and the office layout emerges as a direct translation of the results applied to Ergospace Africa’s Planning Principals.
With office rentals sky rocketing Ergospace Africa have ingeniously combined the needs of both the office worker and the Financial Director, and LSU (Logical Space Utilisation) is the principle which emerged. LSU ensures that everything is firstly, positioned in its logical place of access and secondly, that spatial economy is strictly adhered to – making the most cost-efficient use of available space.
Further, recommendations are made for open plan workstation selection, acoustic treatment, personnel positioning and expansion allowances.
